300+ Five-Star Reviews
“Benchmark did a fantastic job on our kitchen update. We asked them to come on a short timeline to help us get out home ready for sale. The kitchen ended up being a major draw, and on the first day of accepting offers, we had 9 offers on our home.”
“We had a full kitchen remodel with benchmark. Lee and Ian were great through the whole process keeping us informed with any issues that would come up. We plan on using them for our master bathroom remodel in the near future!! Thanks benchmark team!!”
“From our very first meeting, during the design process and through the construction to completion, every person we came into contact with from Benchmark and various subcontractors were professional, polite, knowledgeable and friendly. Lee guided us step by step during the entire process of picking our cabinets, counters, flooring and the design of a custom cat area to accommodate a pet drinking fountain. Ian and his crew did an outstanding job installing the cabinets and the finish work. Any concerns we had were addressed timely and to our satisfaction. All subcontractors (floor, electric, plumbing, and counter tops) were excellent. Any concerns were addressed fully. When Lee and Ian say they want customers 100% satisfied, they mean it and it happens. Thank you Benchmark for our beautiful kitchen!”

Know Before You Remodel
Benchmark Home Improvements is a family-owned kitchen and bathroom remodeling company based in Newmarket, NH: 25 years in the trade, more than 400 completed projects on the Seacoast, a 5.0 average across 300+ reviews, and Best of Houzz Service nine years running. We design, build, and manage every kitchen ourselves, from the first in-home visit to the final walkthrough.
A full kitchen remodel covers everything from demolition to the last coat of paint: layout changes, cabinetry, countertops, tile, flooring, lighting, and the electrical and plumbing work that ties it together. Our own crew handles the carpentry, cabinets, counters, tile, and finishes, while licensed electricians and plumbers handle their specialties.
Design happens at our Newmarket showroom. You walk through a 3D rendering of your kitchen, choose every material in person, and the whole project goes into one clear, fixed-price proposal before work begins.
Age, mostly. Many Seacoast homes were built before 1978, which means lead-safe work practices matter (Benchmark is EPA Lead-Safe certified), and older framing can hide surprises that only show up once a wall opens. In older homes, structural surprises can add 5 to 15 percent to a project, so we tell you to plan for that up front instead of pretending it never happens.
Permits run $350 to $1,500 depending on the town, and every town office works a little differently. We pull the permits and coordinate the inspections, and the fees pass through to you at cost.
Plan on 4 to 6 weeks of construction for most kitchens, after 4 to 6 weeks of design and selections. Projects with structural work or custom cabinetry run longer, and we say so before you sign, not after.
During the build you get daily updates from the crew and a project manager you can actually reach.
We refaced kitchens across New England for years and no longer offer it. Full-service refacing quotes have climbed into new-cabinet territory, close enough that most homeowners get far more value going new: new boxes, a real warranty, and a layout that finally works.
Frequently Asked
Most Benchmark kitchens fall between $60,000 and $150,000+ across two published levels: Better and Best. Read the full Kitchen Cost Guide for a level-by-level breakdown of what drives the number.
Plan on 4–6 weeks of construction for most Better-level projects, with Best-level builds running longer when structural work and custom cabinetry are involved. Before construction, design and planning typically take another 4–6 weeks.
Yes. We pull all required permits and coordinate inspections so you don't have to chase the town office.
Most homeowners do. We set up a temporary kitchen and walk through the logistics during the design phase so you know what to expect week to week.
Either. We're happy to install the appliances you already have or source a new package at either level through our distributor relationships.
Not anymore. We refaced kitchens for years and retired the service once full-service refacing quotes reached new-cabinet prices. Our refacing vs. replacing guide breaks down the real numbers side by side.
