Help with your project

If you have a Benchmark crew in your home, this is where to find us and the answers to the questions that come up most while the work is running.

The fastest way to reach us

Send it to your text thread

You, your project manager, and Meoghan in the office are already in one thread. Ask there and everyone who needs to know sees it at once, so nothing waits on a message being passed along.

Or call your project manager

Ian or Johnny, whoever is running your job. They are the person who knows what is happening in your house today, and their number is in that thread.

Cannot find either one?

Call the office and Meoghan will connect you.

Your People

Who you'll be talking to

Benchmark is run by the Veader family. Your project manager is your day-to-day contact, and the office is in the thread with you.

Ian

Project manager

Lee Sr.'s son. Runs job sites in the field, from demo through the final walkthrough.

Johnny

Project manager

Lee Sr.'s cousin. Also runs jobs in the field, so one of the two is on your project.

Meoghan

Co-owner, office

She is in your text thread too, so the office already knows what is happening on your job.

During Your Project

Common questions while we're working

How do I get a question answered once the work has started?

Start with the text thread that has you, your project manager, and Meoghan in the office in it. Everyone who needs to know sees the question at once, so nothing waits on a message being passed along. If it needs an actual conversation, call your project manager directly. The office number is the backup for when you cannot find the thread.

Do I need to be home while the crew is working?

No. Most homeowners keep working through the middle of a project. We agree on how the crew gets into the house before the first day and stick to that. If a decision comes up during the day, your project manager texts or calls you rather than guessing.

Will my water and power stay on during the remodel?

For most of the project, yes. There are specific days, usually plumbing and electrical work, when water or power to part of the house goes off for a few hours. Your project manager tells you which days those are ahead of time so you can plan around them.

Can I use the kitchen or bathroom while it is being remodeled?

Not once demo starts. The room is an active work site with tools, dust, and open plumbing in it. If yours is the only bathroom in the house, tell us before the project starts so we can plan the sequence around that.

How do you protect the rest of my house during the work?

We run floor protection along the path from the door to the work area, and we close off the openings into the rest of the house so dust stays where the work is. The protection stays down for the length of the project, not just the first day.

What should I do about pets during the project?

Tell your project manager on the first morning. Doors get propped open and crews carry material in and out all day, so the safest plan is keeping pets closed in a room away from the work area. The same goes for young children and the work zone.

Where does the old kitchen or bathroom go?

We haul the demo out as the project goes rather than letting it pile up in your yard. If the job needs a container on site, where it sits is agreed with you before the first day, and we protect the driveway surface underneath it.

How will I know what is happening week to week?

Your project manager, Ian or Johnny, keeps you updated as the build moves along and tells you what is coming next. Updates land in the text thread, so you and the office are always looking at the same information about your job.

What if I want to change something after the work has started?

Tell your project manager as early as you can. Some changes are simple. Others affect the schedule or the price, and those go in writing and get your approval before anyone starts on them. You should never be surprised by the final number.

Something does not look right. How do I raise it?

Say it right away. Put it in the text thread or tell your project manager on site, whichever is faster. Small things are easy to correct while the crew is still in your home and much harder afterward.

Not sure who to ask?

Put it in your text thread. You, your project manager, and the office all see it, and whoever can answer will.
