Ethics Recognized by Peers

BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics

Most remodelers chase one award and stop there. Benchmark won the Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics in 2018, returned as a finalist in 2023, and currently serves as a Judge evaluating other companies’ applications. No other Seacoast NH kitchen and bath specialist has matched this progression. Lee Sr. sits on the New Hampshire BBB Board.

  1. 2018

    Torch Award Winner

Won the Better Business Bureau’s highest small-business honor for marketplace ethics. The Torch Award evaluates a company across leadership, communications, human resources, operations, and community.

  2. 2023

    Torch Award Finalist

Returned as a finalist five years after the original win. Few NH small businesses appear in the Torch Award finalist pool twice, fewer in the kitchen-and-bath category.

  3. 2025

    Torch Award Judge

Now evaluating other companies’ applications for the same award Benchmark won in 2018. Lee Sr. graduated from competitor to peer-evaluator, and sits on the NH BBB Board.

9 Consecutive Years

Best of Houzz Service, Every Year Since 2016

The Best of Houzz Service award recognizes companies for client experience, review volume, recency, and quality combined. Benchmark has earned it nine years in a row, across two recessions and a pandemic. Most remodelers can claim one good year; sustained excellence over a decade is a different category of proof.

Why This Matters

What These Credentials Actually Mean

A lot of remodelers list awards in their footer. We list them on a dedicated page because the difference between the awards matters.

The BBB Torch Award is not a participation trophy. The BBB evaluates leadership, communications, HR practices, operations, and community standing. Winning means a panel of judges read your company’s submission and verified that the practices you claim match the practices you actually run. Returning as a finalist five years later means the judges read it again and agreed. Being invited to Judge other companies means the BBB now uses your standards to evaluate others. That’s the progression.

The 9-year Best of Houzz Service streak is not a single recent recognition. Houzz awards Best of Service annually based on review volume, recency, and quality. Earning it once is a good year. Earning it nine years in a row across two recessions and a pandemic means the company’s quality hasn’t drifted.

The 10% retention policy is not an award. It’s a financial guarantee. We hold back the final 10% of every project until you’ve signed off as satisfied. No outside body recognizes the policy because it isn’t an award. It’s been our standard contract term since 2001.

If you’re comparing Benchmark against another Seacoast remodeler, ask them which awards they’ve earned, which years, and where their financial accountability is documented. Most can’t match the stack on this page.
